  • Where did the name come from?
Eat Your Art Out started about 16 years ago as a camp to feed the artist on the playa during build. With Nowhere getting bigger, we’ve had to stop this wonderful service but the camp kept the name. We have quickly turned into a queer camp embracing the values of respect, consent and community.
  • What is your camp’s ethos?
You can read it all here.
  • Where are you situated at Nowhere?
We’re in the sweet spot at the corner of the Yellow and the Orange zone which makes us close to the big party camps but far enough that we can sleep.
  • How long will build be?
We will be deeply stuck in from June 25th (Wednesday before the event), so come as soon as possible to make the road smooth for everyone! Just let us know when you will arrive so we can arrange early access.
  • How long will strike be?
Strike will be about 2-3days. We aim to start on Sunday afternoon as a whole camp activity and be totally finished by Wednesday morning. The more the merrier, please consider staying!
  • What is the Queerberet?
The Queerberet is THE event of the playa. Every year, on the Thursday we hold a talent show where everyone who’s anyone anywhere, or a nobody at nowhere (or not) is welcome to do, show, sing, scream, dance, recite anything. It’s a stage for self-expression and for people to have fun. No seriousness required. It is the signature event of the camp. You don't want to miss it! Don't know your talent yet? you can sign up last minute with something you've discovered at the playa this year!
  • How much will I be required to do?
As much as you can and are happy to do. We do hope that everyone involved in the camp will participate at least once in cooking, washing up, cleaning or overall helping. We offer many opportunities to lead or to give your ideas. We love new ideas and want to give them the place they deserve.
  • Are you a sex positive camp?
No. We are a body and gender positive camp. Please be naked and express yourself and your body!!! Also, please like, love or worship the sex/gender you choose. However, we do not hold any sensual workshops. We are very attached to consent and want to be respectful and inclusive and sex positivity like any other freedoms stops where the freedom of others begin. Kiss, cuddle, make out, massage others, but if things start getting frisky, please refrain to do them in the camp public area. Luckily our neighbours Peach Please are a queer sex camp, so a perfect place for us to go!
  • Will there be workshops?
We very much welcome workshops. I you have a workshop or an idea of a workshop, please contact us at eyao.bario@gmail.com. We have a workshop space and are willing to facilitate even if you are not from our camp. We have two daily slots, grab them before it's too late!
  • Will there be parties?
We hold one after-Queerberet boogie on the Thursday. The theme varies from year to year but we are usually playing on a gender-bending motif. We aspire to have the gayest, shiniest, most fun party of the playa. If you'd like to play some tunes, any dance genre are welcome!!
  • Will there be a bar?
Yes! Happy hour every day from 7. The best thing is that it lasts more than hour. Until drinks run out, or our bartender gets distracted by kittens, whichever one happens first. It will be free and staked with all the sweet and sour (maybe even savoury) goodness you can dream of. Alcohol and free from included.
  • What’s the food like?
We are mostly vegan with some gluten free options. We have 2 fridges and welcome you to bring your non vegan options. If you have any dietary requirements, let us know.
  • Hygiene?
Yes, hygiene! We have several systems for that. We like to make sure no one gets ill cause it’s no fun. And we have a Hippy wash (that's what we call our shower) from where you can stare into the sunset. Dreamy! PS: We've got 2 water cubes which fit about 1000l of water each.
  • How accessible are you?
We try to be as accessible as possible. We will make sure our build is done is the most accessible way possible when it come to wheelchair especially but we are always looking to make our camp welcome to all. If you have any suggestions, we’re all ears. Let us know any access needs you have, so we can better accommodate you
  • What’s the camp fee and why?
Our camp fee this year is 200€. This is to cover all food, water, refreshments (inc. alcohol), snacks (different than food), décor, tools, gas and other overhead for the event. We try to be reasonable humans and after careful calculations on our abacus, our alchemists have determined this fee to me the fairest in the land.
  • What are the animal families?
They are work groups that you can join to oversee particular aspects of camp. When you apply, you will choose a family and join the conversation with them. However, during the event you are encouraged to do shifts helping other families. This eases the work load for everyone, but also it gives individuals a more holistic understanding of camp.
